The upcoming report from United Parcel Service (UPS) is expected to reveal quarterly earnings of $1.65 per share, indicating an increase of 6.5% compared to the year-ago period. The current level reflects a downward revision of 0.2% in the consensus EPS estimate for the quarter over the past 30 days. The estimate indicates a change of +2.3% from the prior-year quarter.

Commercial vehicle enforcement agencies in Maryland, Florida, Kentucky and Illinois are stepping up roadside inspections and traffic enforcement, uncovering hundreds of equipment, driver and safety violations and placing scores of trucks and drivers out of service. The recent actions are part of a broader push by state and federal regulators to improve commercial vehicle safety by targeting driver qualifications, vehicle maintenance, speeding, hazardous materials transportation and compliance with Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations. Officers identified 587 commercial vehicle violations and placed 92 vehicles out of service.

Shares of Penske Automotive Group soared Wednesday in response to a takeover bid from the the company’s current two biggest owners. Mitsui & Co. (U.S.A), which owns about 20.3% of Penske Automotive, and Penske Corporation, a privately-held company that owns about 52% of Penske Automotive, announced the bid to acquire the approximately 27.8% of Penske Automotive they do not already own. At approximately 1 p.m., Penske Automotive(NYSE: PAG) was up 10.32% to $215.34.

A Houston commercial truck driver has pleaded guilty to transporting 24 undocumented immigrants inside a tractor-trailer after claiming he was hauling a load of carrots, according to federal prosecutors. Rodney William Gipson, 61, admitted he knowingly, or with reckless disregard, transported the undocumented immigrants despite having nearly 30 years of experience as a commercial truck driver, the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of Texas said.

The bill would prohibit the USPS Board of Governors from approving any additional compensation for the Postmaster General and Deputy Postmaster General for a fiscal year in which the agency doesn't meet or exceed an on-time delivery rate of 95% for all mail products. During the last three years of Louis DeJoy's tenure as postmaster general, the Board of Governors approved more than $567,000 in bonuses, Hawley said. Current Postmaster General David Steiner, who assumed office in July 2025, has already received $170,000 in bonuses, he said.
