Amazon’s fulfillment centers expand beyond Texas, with the company breaking ground on this Louisiana warehouse in 2020. Amazon is looking to expand its Lone Star State footprint with the construction of a new $98 million, 1.2 million-square-foot regional distribution center in the Dallas market of Terrell, Texas, as reported by The Dallas Morning News. Construction could begin as early as August 2026, with completion slated for next year.

Amazon is reportedly closing in on the vacant vertical warehouse at 1237 West Division Street just west of Goose Island in Chicago. It has sat empty since it was completed in 2024, and its developers, Logistics Property, listed the building in October. Now according to Crain’s, Amazon is expected to buy the building at a fraction of what it cost to build it, adding that billionaire Jeff Bezos’s company is expected to cover whatever amount is still outstanding on Logistics Property’s $150 million construction loan.

Amazon wants to plant a 4.2 million-square-foot warehouse development in the middle of Long Island. The $1 billion fulfillment warehouse complex would be its largest on Long Island, and 21 times larger than any existing facility there. The proposed project would require a zoning change to industrial from the Town of Islip.

Amazon delivery contractors OnPoint Logistics and Xpress Delivery plan to close operations in San Francisco and Oakland, eliminating 176 jobs in September. AmazonTwo companies that deliver Amazon packages plan to close Bay Area operations in September, eliminating a combined 176 jobs, according to notices filed with California officials this month. OnPoint Logistics LLC will close its operation at 749 Toland St. in San Francisco on Sept. 7, cutting 92 delivery drivers and four operations management employees.
