WD-40's input costs for specialty chemicals rose by as much as 100% last quarter, largely due to higher oil prices linked to the Iran war, VP of Finance and CFO Sara Hyzer said in a July 9 earnings call. Supplier prices for the specialty chemicals and base oils WD-40 buys are expected to decline slowly, easing input-cost pressure on margins over time, Hyzer said. At the time, Hyzer told investors that higher raw material spending typically takes 90 to 120 days to show up in the cost of products sold.

All rights reserved) ATASCOSA COUNTY, Texas – A woman allegedly stole an Amazon delivery truck in Bexar County and drove it to Atascosa County before she was later taken into custody, the Atascosa County Sheriff’s Office said on Sunday through a news release on social media. The sheriff’s office said a woman, who has not been identified, stole the vehicle in San Antonio. The woman drove the Amazon truck with packages inside to northern Atascosa County where the drive would come to an erupt end, according to the news release.

In 2020, Miami-Dade County conveyed public land at 27505 SW 132nd Avenue to Amazon for $22 million, based on its appraised value, under a deal that required Amazon to create and maintain at least 325 full-time jobs paying an average of $32,000 per year, according to the official Miami-Dade County press release on the enforcement action. The next-generation design, first deployed at Amazon's Shreveport, Louisiana facility in late 2024, is architecturally different in ways that cannot be retrofitted around live operations. The plan calls for replicating the Shreveport robotics design across approximately 40 facilities by the end of 2027.

Amazon will shut down operations at its Port St. Lucie fulfillment center later this year, laying off nearly 500 employees as the company prepares a major renovation and expansion of the warehouse. The company filed a Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification Act notice with the state and the city of Port St. Lucie. According to the notice, the layoffs will begin Sept. 17 and continue through Dec. 17.

The company announced in May it would close its warehouse on Midway Road at Interstate 95 for a$200 million expansion project, and that workers would be impacted. Amazon had planned to keep employees within the company during renovations by transferring them to other warehouses in South Florida, the company had said. When the facility reopens, "there's going to be more than 1,000 employees right off the bat here," Stowe said.
