A food delivery driver has been charged with murder in the fatal shooting of a man working at the Amazon fulfillment center in south suburban Matteson earlier this week. Officers arrived within about three minutes and found 26-year-old Dylan Perkins suffering from multiple gunshot wounds to the torso near the building's front entrance. Police said officers immediately began lifesaving efforts, including applying a tourniquet and performing CPR until paramedics arrived.

Luc Rene, an Amazon delivery driver in Queens, had already gone through five bottles of water in as many hours during his shift on Wednesday, the first day of an anticipated four-day stretch of dangerously hot temperatures in New York City. “I’m delivering 300 packages a day, even in this heat,” one of the workers said. All Amazon depots are equipped with water stations and ice machines, according to the company, which says it works closely with its subcontractors to monitor extreme weather and heat index thresholds and adjust routes as needed to allow additional time to rest.

The proposed rule would have required states to provide USPS with information about voters receiving mail or absentee ballots, along with barcode data tied to ballot envelopes. If a state did not certify a list or comply with the new envelope and barcode standards, the Postal Service would not transmit outbound federal ballot mail to that state’s voters. Sullivan agreed that the proposed procedures conflicted with the settlement that resolved the NAACP’s 2020 lawsuit against USPS.

McKean stated that these investments are collectively building a more connected and intelligent postal network that improves customer visibility, enhances operational efficiency, strengthens service performance, and provides data for continuous improvement.
