FedEx parcel delivery drivers have moved towards striking for greater protection against outsourcing and artificial intelligence-driven work schedules as the Transport Workers Union threatens a wave of national industrial action across the sector in the coming months. The TWU is applying for a vote to approve strikes for 3000 FedEx employees, a bargaining dispute at the tip of the spear as 220 workplace pay deals are set to expire this quarter, opening the way for transport workers in an array of industries to strike.

As FedEx members gear up for potential action, hearings commence today in the Fair Work Commission for the union's application to put decent standards in place for parcel delivery, to stop the Amazon Effect smashing the transport industry.

Analysts expect United Parcel Service to post earnings of $1.65 per share and revenue of $21.8334 billion for the quarter. During the same quarter in the previous year, the firm posted $1.49 earnings per share. Citigroup lifted their price target on shares of United Parcel Service from $127.00 to $132.00 and gave the stock a "buy" rating in a research note on Thursday, July 9th.
